On-Site Rollforming: One Seamless Panel, One Trusted Partner

We bring the factory to your jobsite — so you can focus on design, install, and results.

Onsite rollforming allows McElroy Metal to produce single-piece standing seam panels in the exact lengths your project requires, eliminating leak-prone end-laps entirely. By removing the time-consuming labor and detailing associated with end-laps, crews install faster, with fewer headaches and a cleaner, more durable finished roof.

What Is Onsite Rollforming

On-site rollforming allows McElroy Metal to bring our rollforming equipment directly to your jobsite, producing continuous standing seam panels in the exact lengths required for your project—often up to 250' or more. This approach eliminates transportation limits, reduces panel handling, and streamlines installation by generating precise, ready-to-install panels on the ground.

On-Site Rollforming

On-Site Rollforming Ideal Applications

  • Large commercial and industrial roof projects.

  • Retrofit and recover applications requiring full-length panels.

  • Long-span designs where end-laps would otherwise be required.

  • Standing seam installations needing precise, custom panel lengths.

  • Projects that benefit from reduced panel handling and a more efficient installation process.

On-Site Rollforming Top 3 Benefits

  1. Continuous Panels With No End-Laps: Long-length panels improve weather performance, reduce leak points, and create a cleaner finished appearance.

  2. Faster, More Efficient Installation: By forming panels where they’ll be installed, crews spend less time staging, cutting, or managing multiple bundled lengths.

  3. Better Access for Challenging Jobsites: Steep sites, limited access, urban locations, and large structures all benefit from manufacturing panels on the project instead of hauling oversized loads.

138T delivers single-piece, site-formed panels with uninterrupted in-seam sealant and full-panel replaceability, eliminating leak-prone end-laps and allowing installers to start and stop anywhere on the roof.

238T provides long-length, single-piece panels with continuous in-seam sealant and full-panel replaceability, eliminating end-lap vulnerabilities and enabling efficient stop-and-start installation on demanding roof designs.

Maxima ADV can be roll-formed in single-piece lengths to eliminate end-laps and reduce leak risk, but requires sequential installation from left-to-right or right-to-left for proper engagement and seam integrity.

Maxima 2" supports single-piece, long-run panels that eliminate end-laps and improve weather performance, with installation occurring sequentially from one side of the roof to the other for consistent seaming.

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions below address common considerations and help guide product selection for your project.

What profiles can be roll-formed onsite?
We offer on-site rollforming for 138T, 238T, Maxima 2", and Maxima ADV.
How long can the panels be?
Panels can be produced in continuous lengths up to approximately 250', eliminating end-laps and reducing labor.
Do onsite-formed panels qualify for your standard warranties?
Yes. Panels roll-formed onsite meet the same performance classifications as factory-formed panels and can qualify for the same warranty options.
What do I need to provide at the jobsite?
You’ll need a forklift or crane with an operator and roughly one laborer for every 15 feet of panel being produced. Clear access and a stable staging area are also required.
Is on-site rollforming cost effective?
Yes. While there is an added cost for mobilizing equipment and personnel, most projects see labor savings, better weather-tightness, and reduced installation time that outweigh the added production cost.
How far in advance should I schedule?
Lead time varies by season and region. It’s best to engage your McElroy representative early in planning so we can reserve equipment and coordinate production timing.
