Frequently Asked Questions

The questions below address common considerations and help guide product selection for your project.

What makes Substructural XL different from conventional structural members?
Substructural XL expands the traditional range by offering thicker gauges, deeper webs, and factory-applied labor savers like flange notching and advanced punch capabilities, resulting in faster installs and reduced jobsite fabrication.
Can Substructural XL be value engineered for my project?
Yes. The wider web depths and heavier gauges allow engineering teams to optimize spans, reduce the number of members, and eliminate secondary support in many applications.
Do you offer both standard and custom punch patterns?
Yes. Our punching flexibility is among the best in the industry, supporting everything from standard fastener holes to custom utility layouts for sprinklers, conduit, and mechanical lines.
Are there length limitations?
Yes. Most facilities can produce custom lengths from 6’ to 50’, with our Bossier City location offering lengths up to 45’.
What applications are best suited for Substructural XL?
Substructural XL is ideal for long-span framing, mezzanines, platforms, industrial buildings, retrofit conditions, roof and wall sub-framing, and structures with extensive utility routing.
